Craftify It Thursday: Guest Blogger - Mom in Management

I'm excited to say that Daria from Mom in Management is a returning guest blogger! You might remember THIS post that she previous wrote about managing your time better. What's even better, she does crafts with her family and they are all working together to show you a simple, fun and very cute way to make your own clips!

Your Welcome to link up your crafts below!

Welcoming Daria from Mom in Management . . .

One of the best things I've gained from blogging is exposure to various crafty ideas and fun family activities.  I have really been enjoying doing a family craft together with the kids on Sundays, such as painting rocks and making hair clips.  Unfortunately, I have fallen out of the habit with the Holidays and family visiting, but it's time to get it started again.

Making hair clips is an activity we did a few months ago.   It is super easy and super cheap.  Plus they make great gifts and it's an easy way to create matching hair accessories for your daughter's outfits.  This is also a great time of year to get some of these holiday ribbons on sale and save for next year!

Supplies:
  • 5/8" wide ribbon
  • Hair clips (Sally Beauty Supply has a box of 100 for $5.95)
  • Glue gun and glue
  • Buttons or whatnot to decorate (optional)
Directions:

Cut the ribbon long enough to fold over all sides of the clip - about 7 inches.

Start on the bottom inside of the clip and glue the ribbon then wrap around and glue on all sides.  That is it!

You can add buttons or silk flowers or bows on top,

just dab of glue and press for a minute.

This is a family friendly activity, although I did not want my 2 year old to handle the hot glue gun for fear of burning herself.

Lessons learned:
Put newspaper on the table before starting.
Your children will inevitably use WAY too much glue the first couple of times.

Letting the little one cut the newspaper keeps them entertained for awhile.

WATCH the little one closely with the scissors or she may get bored with the newspaper and start cutting her own hair.
Giving credit:  I think this is the site (here), that I used to learn how to do this, but it's been too long and I don't know for sure.

Oops! I said to use 5/8" ribbon, but actually the 3/8" worked best with the width of the clips we were using.

If anyone makes the hair clips, I'd love to see pictures!

Too funny about the scissors. My youngest daughter cut little holes in her tights one day as I was busy doing something else.

    Thanks for the party.
